2015--A Wonderful Beginning!

My Grandmother's Churn
|
2015 is shaping up to be a fabulous year!
The excitement began at the end of 2014 when my little 6 x 6 painting, Gazing, was juried into the Randy Higbee Gallery 6" Squared Exhibition and Sale. The painting traveled to California for the December exhibition and gala.
Excitement continued with the notification that my plein air painting of one of Carl's rusty heaps, International Truck, was juried into the Epperson Gallery Small Treasures exhibition in Valona, California. The Small Treasures exhibition, which ran until March, was curated by artist Randall Sexton, and the works included in the show interpreted the theme "from the heart" and expressed "passion, friendship, commitment, or things you love." I thought a piece of rolling stock from Carl's collection would be perfect for the show. I know I'll never run out of these subjects. All I have to do is take a stroll behind his garage, and there I'll see siennas, umbers, corals, pinks--I never knew rust had so many gorgeous colors!
Who knew paintings from this Tennessee girl would travel to California! In January I was notified that My Grandmother's Churn and Eggs and Onionshad been accepted into the Art of Gastronomy exhibition at the Healdsburg Center for the Arts in Healdsburg, California. The exhibition is a month-long celebration that "presents the passion of food and drink" and will run through April 19. So if you're in the Sonoma County wine country, please stop by and enjoy the exhibition, as well as the food and wine.
Closer to home, I am currently the featured artist at Pickers Creek Winery in Lewisburg, Tennessee. I have a collection of paintings there, including still lifes, landscapes, and figuratives. I invite you to join me at a reception at the winery this Saturday, April 4, from 3-5 p.m. You can enjoy the art while nibbling on munchies and sipping wine. And if you want to stay a little longer, you can enjoy live music from The Bird and The Bear.
Thank you for your interest in my art!
Happy painting,
