A Cup of Compassion
A Cup of Compassion

My inspiration for this painting came from sadness. My heart aches for those less fortunate than I, those in poverty, those in fear, those experiencing hate because of their national origin, their color, or their religion. I want every human being to feel secure, to be welcomed, to have access to health care, to have access to free education. I want all of us to offer a cup of compassion to those less fortunate.

Your cup of kindness may hold your ability to speak up to elected officials;

it may hold your volunteer hours at your public school;

it may hold your donations to your local food bank or clothing shelter;

it may hold your freedom to drive someone to a polling site in order to vote;

it may hold your donations to organizations that fight for our civil rights;

it may hold your ability to protect those on the margins;

it may hold your time spent wielding a hammer, helping to build someone a home;

it may especially hold your anger as you rail against hatred and evil.

Your cup must be large. Find the biggest one you can, fill it, and offer it.
