Through the Kitchen Window

Through the Kitchen Window by Carol Berning, Oil, 17 x 27.75

Oil on Panel 17 x 27.75 Sold

I completed this monochromatic painting of my mother working in her flower bed with her cat, Little Grey Missy, keeping watch. I used burnt sienna and burnt umber oils on gessoed board. When the umber was dry, I glazed the painting with Indian Yellow to heighten the light and shadows.  The window frame it sits behind is a window that came out of the house that Mother grew up in and that sat on the property where Mother and Daddy still live. Having been in our family over 150 years, the farm has been designated a Tennessee Century Farm.
