What a wonderful year is developing--both personally and professionally!

I was recently interviewed by Aaron Burcham for his podcasts of Epic Ordinary Lives. We talked about art, passion, family, education, and more of the same. He is an excellent host, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. He caused me to think deeply about who I am and why I do what I do. I invite you to go to iTunes and listen. And if you feel so inclined to leave a review, Aaron will appreciate your kind words! Just go to iTunes and Epic Ordinary Lives.

I was once again this year chosen as one of the Tennessee Top Ten Portrait Artists in a contest sponsored by the Portrait Society of America and coordinated by Chantel Barber.  I am humbled that Juror Jim Aplin chose my portrait, Sean the Sun God, as one of the winning portraits, and to be included in a group of amazing artists.

Again this year, I had two little 6 x 6 paintings accepted for the Randy Higbee 6"Squared Exhibit in California. My paintings of Red Delicious and Matters were part of the exhibit.

And finally, one of the highlights thus far this year was a trip to Healdsburg, CA, with my mother and sister-in-law. Three of my paintings, Potato Harvest, Dancing the Virginia Reel, and Egg Money, were juried into the Art of Gastronomy II exhibit at the Healdsburg Center for the Arts. So always up for an adventure, the three of us joined the three paintings in Healdsburg. We ate wonderful food, toured the Francis Ford Coppola Winery and Sonoma County vineyards,  had great shopping, and saw beautiful art. It was my 91-year-0ld mother's first time to fly, and she loved it!
